In February 2023, I made a life changing decision: I quit my job and sold my house. I wanted change. I wanted to explore the world and figure life out on my own terms.

So I booked a one way ticket to Colombia and started traveling. It’s here where I bought my first camera. And it’s here where I instantly fell in love with everything about it.

Half a year later I got my first big lens. My parents visited me in Bolivia and brought it as a late birthday gift. That’s when photography became a big part of my life and even changed my way of viewing the world: It’s easy to find beauty when you’re actually looking.

Writing is different. Writing is not just about the beautiful parts. For me, writing is about feeling, sitting with your emotions, questioning your motives. It’s about taking something big and turning it into something we can grasp, something more simple. The act of writing gives me a way to understand, or helps me find peace in not understanding.

Writing has been a part of me for a long time. But only since the summer of 2022 have I truly embraced poetry. I love the way how words come out in a different way every time. I love the freedom.
